Hiking trip to Nordenskiöldbreen

First time on Svalbard and the first view just catched me up there...I can fly back to the south but there will always be a part of me on this icy island in the North

In Longyearbyen we met Eric and Liv... warm and firendly people who offered us a warm place to stay overnight, were we talked about Svalbard and our plans instead of sleeping.

Start of our trip in Adventalen

The first pictures got lost.
But the first days were an awesome trip throug adventalen to the waterfall in Eskerdalen, an interesting crossing of Sassenelva and some nice days on a fire at the shore.

Tunabreen from the top of a mountain at midnight

cracked ice on Tunabreen

on Tunabreen

jumping over meltwater channels

and crevasses, which finally forced us to climb over the next mountain to Gipsdalen

one night of white out and ice layers on everything forced us to use our tent. The first and only time

that was our usual way of staying overnight in two shifts of 2 x 4 hours sleeping and watching for polar bears

Brucebyen

one curious reindeer visited us on the last days, were we waitet at Nodenskiöldbreen.
A ship was supposed to pick us up, but we were a bit too early and ran out of food....now a hunting license would be useful

Nordenskiöldbreen

Back in Longyearbyen Liv and Eric gave us a nice and warm welcome..Thank you very much for this
